What are Exclusive Editions?

As well as our range of subscription boxes, we also regularly offer Exclusive Editions. These are titles that we have loved across all our genres, and have produced in beautiful editions with designs and features that are exclusive to Illumicrate. These can include, but are not limited to: 

• Redesigned covers;
• Reversible and/or alternative dust jackets with exclusive-to-us artwork;
• Bespoke slipcases;
• Full colour and/or foil embossing on the hardback casing;
• Custom illustrated endpapers (different front and back); 
• Sprayed, stencilled, and/or printed edges; 
• Bound-in author letters;
• Bonus chapters or other content;
• Bound-in ribbon bookmark;
• Hand-signed or digitally-signed by the author, when able.
  

We announce all our Exclusive Editions in the News section of our website, on our social media, and in our email newsletter.

We initially offer our Exclusive Editions to our active subscribers in genre-specific presales. If there are still copies remaining after this, we open them up for general sale to all in either or both of our UK or US Illumishops. 

Illumicrate Exclusive Editions

Illumicrate Exclusive Editions are special editions of fantasy books we have enjoyed and for which we wanted to offer an Exclusive Edition. We feature both adult and young adult titles in our Illumicrate Exclusives. Occasionally, we also feature our Debut Boxes, showcasing new authors, or our Collections, Archives, and Mini-boxes, which focus on a particular author or fandom.

Examples of our previous Illumicrate Exclusive Editions include the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan, The Locked Tomb series 1-3 by Tamsyn Muir, and This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.

Afterlight Exclusive Editions

Afterlight Exclusives are special editions of adult romances we've loved over the years, from debuts to older titles, and which we felt needed an Exclusive Edition. We also occasionally have our Afterlight Love Letters, which are special editions of young adult (YA) romances. 

Examples of our previous Afterlight Exclusive Editions include the Lovelight Farms Quartet by B. K. Borison, the Off-Campus Series by Elle Kennedy, and Deep End by Ali Hazelwood. 

Evernight Exclusive Editions

Our Evernight Exclusive Editions feature some of the best horror writers and titles today, offered as customised special editions. 

Examples of our previous Evernight Exclusive Editions include The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher, Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White, and the Indian Lake Trilogy by Stephen Graham Jones. 

10th Anniversary Exclusive Editions

In 2025, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary, so we decided to offer 10 series that are especially loved by the Illumicrew as 10th Anniversary Editions. These included The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce, The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb, The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, and more.
